Seems like Kevin Federline has had enough drama for one year. The divorced dad-of-four dissed Paris Hilton during a December 30 party at Pure nightclub in Las Vegas. All along the issue, the really big issue, was whether the striking writers would still feel united if some of them went back to work and others stayed on the picket lines. I’ve learned that was just one of the many worries voiced by the WGA to the posse repping Worldwide Pants when it applied for an interim agreement allowing the two late night shows it owns, The Late Show With David Letterman and The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson, to return to the air on January 2nd fully staffed with scribes. “It was a tough decision,” a source close to Letterman acknowledged to me just now. “This happened by the slimmest of all possible margins.” So tough that Dave’s negotiating team didn’t know whether the pact would be approved by the WGA until the very last minute today. It was, finally, at midday following several meetings and a lot of phone calls, sources say. The Letterman camp — which included Worldwide Pants CEO and longtime Late Show exec producer Rob Burnett, ex-CAA partner and now Worldwide Pants exec Lee Gabler, and the Hollywood entertainment law firm of Jackoway Tyerman and Wertheimer — was sworn to secrecy until the WGA could first talk to Jay Leno and his writers and then produce a press release. But the news leaked out early, reputedly from Leno’s side. “I am grateful to the WGA for granting us this agreement. We’re happy to be going back to work, and particularly pleased to be doing it with our writers,” Letterman said in a statement issued by his company. “This is not a solution to the strike, which unfortunately continues to disrupt the lives of thousands. But I hope it will be seen as a step in the right direction.” On the one hand, this is the first side deal cut by the WGA with a producer since the strike began on November 3rd as part of its new and articulated “divide and conquer” strategy. “Worldwide Pants has accepted the very same proposals that the Guild was prepared to present to the media conglomerates when they walked out of negotiations on December 7,” the WGA said in its annoumcement today. But I’m told the WGA leadership was particularly worried how Leno’s writers would react since it gives Letterman’s show a real leg up on late night competition for guests like celebrities and politicians (i.e. Democratic presidential contenders who don’t want to cross picket lines). “I don’t think they wanted to upset Jay or those writers because they’ve all been incredibly supportive of the WGA during this strike,” an insider explained to me. “But it’s not Jay’s writers’ fault that Dave’s lawyers made a deal for him to own his show and Jay’s lawyers made a deal for him to be an NBC employee.” 
Britney Spears may be viewing the silver screen as the answer to all her problems. Despite enduring what is widely regarded as a truly terrible 2007, it seems Spears is determined to bounce back next year with a new role originally viewed as being perfect for one of her showbiz pals. Lindsay Lohan had originally been pencilled in to play the girlfriend of a troubled mental-illness patient in Memoirs of a Medicated Child. But producers have realised the enormous pulling power of Spears and are now mulling ditching Lohan. Director Tommy Parker told the New York Post: “As far as Britney’s concerned, we’re talking.” 
Nicole Kidman and her husband of 18 months are expecting their first baby, the Daily Mail can reveal. The Oscar-winning actress and Keith Urban, the country and western singer she calls the “love of my life”, broke the news to their families over the Christmas holiday. The 40-year-old Australian star had already spoken of “winding down” her film-making activities as much as possible next year. The baby, whose expected arrival date has not yet been revealed, will be the actress’s first natural child.

Now a single mom with two young boys, Britney is desperately worried about her sister’s future – and livid with her mother for keeping Jamie Lynn’s pregnancy a secret from her, sources say. 
Mischa Barton had been smoking marijuana when she was arrested by police for driving under the influence on Thursday morning, according to reports. The former The O.C. star was pulled over by West Hollywood cops in the early hours of Thursday when she was spotted straddling two lanes of traffic. She was taken into custody on suspicion of DUI, but was also booked for possession of narcotics and driving on a suspended license. And the 21-year-old, who scored a 0.12 on a breathalyser test, was also found to have marijuana on her person, as well as prescription drugs which were not in her name, according to TMZ.com.

Rosie O’Donnell has topped a new magazine poll to find the most annoying celebrity. O’Donnell won 44 per cent of the vote - leading her closest contender, Paris Hilton, by 20 per cent in the survey conducted by U.S. publication, Parade. American TV personality and author Ann Coulter came in third place with 16 per cent, while Sir Paul MCCartney’s estranged wife Heather Mills gained fourth place with 12 per cent, and celebrity blogger Perez Hilton took fifth position with four per cent. Meanwhile, troubled pop star Britney Spears was named the most over-exposed celebrity with 50 per cent of the votes. 
Former “Lost” star Michelle Rodriguez has begun her six-month jail sentence after booking in to a Los Angeles prison on Christmas Eve. The actress was sentenced to 180 days in jail after violating her probation for driving under the influence. She had admitted failing to complete community service after submitting a false document to show she carried out the work on September 25. The 29-year-old was also found to have consumed alcohol on at least three occasions while wearing a monitoring bracelet around her ankle, in violation of a probation requirement she refrain from drinking for 90 days. According to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department records, Rodriguez checked in to Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood, Calif., under her real name Mayte Michelle Rodriguez in the early hours of Monday. 
Lindsay Lohan is having a bad week. First, her ex-boyfriend Riley Giles (whom she met in rehab and spent Thanksgiving with) told Britain’s News of the World that Lohan “quit coke and got hooked on sex with me,” and now Giles is selling photos he took of Lohan while they were together. On Dec. 26, dozens of magazine editors awoke to an e-mail from a well-known photo agency. The e-mail included several snapshots of Lohan in various states of undress, and boasted that the pics were “personal photos taken by Riley Giles while he was dating Lindsay Lohan.” “Say what you will about their relationship, but I don’t think she ever imagined he would do this to her,” a source close to Lohan said.

Just when you think she can’t do it again, she does. Britney Spears kicked off her holiday weekend with a bizarre trip around the greater L.A. area that included profanity-laced tirades, hours of aimless driving, scuffles with paparazzi, a stop at a hotel, and several trips to gas station bathrooms. Her escapades began just after midnight Saturday, Dec. 22, when Spears, driving her Mercedes with the headlights off and the trunk open, made a trip to Rite-Aid. “I have to buy stuff for my babies,” Spears told photographers, reports People. After testing and not buying several deodorant sprays, the mag reports that she bought Lucky Charms cereal, Purex laundry detergent, chocolate chip cookies, and a 32-inch plush horse. (Is this what babies want these days? Just asking.) The following night, Dec. 23, in the same turquoise top (sans bra) and jeans as the previous day, Britney left her home and drove to a gas station where she used the restroom and witnesses overheard her unleashing a profanity-filled tirade at a friend over her cell phone, according to OK! magazine. Spears visited two more gas-station restrooms during the next hour, and drove aimlessly around L.A. blowing through one red light after another, according to the mag. Later that same day, Spears invited a photographer who she’s called “cute” to the Peninsula Hotel, where they stayed until Britney (and the photographer) left. Spears then returned to her house to await the arrival of her sons. 
Jessica Simpson may also have set a record at the box office. Her latest film, Blonde Ambition, co-starring Luke Wilson, took in just $1,190 over the weekend. True, it was shown in only eight Texas theaters, but that’s still an average of less than $50 per theater per day, meaning about six people showed up to see it in each location each day. On his TV Guide Online blog, film critic Ken Fox asked, “Doesn’t someone like Jessica Simpson have more than 48 friends? What about that big Texas family of hers? … Just how bad is this thing anyway?”

Carter, who was named president of Def Jam three years ago, said it was time for him to “take on new challenges.” But there’s more. Did an illusionist come between Pamela Anderson and her professional poker-playing hubby, Rick Salomon? Spies in Las Vegas say Anderson spent Dec. 8, the night before her final performance with magician Hans Klok, “cozying up to” publicity-loving illusionist Criss Angel at club LAX. Pictures were taken, gossip was spread - and Salomon “hit the roof when he found out Pam was hanging out with Criss while he was off at a poker tournament. They had a huge fight,” and Anderson filed for divorce a few days later. A friend of Anderson said, “It was just another log on the fire. Their relationship is so volatile [that] I’m sure this won’t be the last time she files, but nothing happened with her and Criss; they were just hanging out.” Anderson is wary of jealous men, as her last husband, Kid Rock, had “jealousy issues.” A rep for Anderson declined to comment, and a rep for Angel didn’t return calls. 
Jessica Alba and Cash Warren aren’t in any imminent danger of walking down the aisle. And, according to Us, that’s because Jessica “doesn’t want to be pregnant in a dress!” Still, as a mag source points out, “She wanted to get married, but Cash wasn’t ready,” just before she broke up with the world’s luckiest man back in August. Jessica announced just last week that she’s expecting sometime later in the spring. 
Rapper DMX was rushed to the hospital yesterday after passing out at the Sony recording studios, sources tell us. His rep didn’t return calls but rumors of substance abuse are swirling, especially after a video hit the Internet showing the rapper looking nervous and acting erratically while working on an album. 
Both The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and The Colbert Report will resume production of new episodes starting Jan. 7, returning to the airwaves that night sans their striking scribes. 
Guy Ritchie’s Revolver has flopped at the US box office. Despite being re-edited especially for the American market, the film has taken under $75,000 in its first 12 days of release. Celebrity columnist Roger Friedman said: “It’s the same amount of money Madonna spends on, let’s say, mascara.” He added that Revolver is “a terrible film” that had been “roundly panned” by reviewers. 
Eva Longoria’s sports star husband Tony Parker has filed a lawsuit against the bosses of a U.S. photo agency who alleged he cheated on his new wife with a French model. Alexandra Paressant told X17 reporters she briefly romanced the basketball player after the couple exchanged telephone numbers at his wedding in July. Parker has strongly refuted the claims, and now the Frenchman has filed a lawsuit against X17. In the suit, which was filed in Los Angeles on Wednesday, Parker’s legal team claims, “X17 had to know that the story was false, or, at the very least, it had to have entertained serious doubts about the credibility of its supposed source.” According to website Tmz, Parker is angry the agency failed to “verify the information with Mr. Parker, Ms. Longoria, any of their representatives or….anyone else who might have knowledge of the truth or falsity of the allegations.” He is seeking $20 million in damages. 
Kate Moss has her lawyers busy trying to gag her drug-addict ex-boyfriend, Pete Doherty. The Babyshambles frontman is negotiating with Britain’s ITV2 network to tell all about their romance and share his home videos of her in a documentary titled “Kate & Pete: A Love Story.” Doherty, who split with Moss last summer, could make $1 million, a source said, adding, “Producers hope he’ll let them use a lot of film he and Kate shot on camcorders.” But an insider told PageSix.com, “Kate is furious with Pete. She has contacted her lawyers and plans to get an injunction to stop the production.” Moss will be horrified if the tapes surface. “Some of it is really raunchy stuff Kate believed would never be seen by anyone else,” we’re told. “She’ll feel betrayed.” 
Britney Spears is out to prove her ex is a deadbeat dad with a marijuana problem as her divorce battle hits a new low, according to a new U.S. report. The troubled pop star has reportedly accused Kevin Federline of smoking pot around the couple’s sons - to counter claims she boozes in front of the kids. Spears lost physical custody of her sons in October (07) after failing to follow court-imposed drug and alcohol testing, but now she’s firing back with allegations Federline exposes the couple’s kids to marijuana. A source tells American magazine Life + Style, “Britney believes Kevin’s been smoking pot in front of the kids. She says she can smell it in the boys’ hair and on their clothes when she has her visitation with them.” And the publication claims Britney’s so upset, she’s determined to have Sean Preston, two, and Jayden James, one, drug-tested to confirm her suspicions. 
Anyone who wants “Basic Instinct” star Sharon Stone to host an event will have to pay up. Insiders say she pulls $175,000 for a mere 30 minutes of face time at noncharitable events. “Sharon is starting to attend store openings and corporate events. In return, she receives major cash,” said a source. Stone’s agent did not return calls. 
Britney Spears’ teenage sister Jamie-Lynn Spears is pregnant with her first child. Bosses at children’s TV network Nickelodeon, where the 16-year-old fronts hit show Zoey 101, have confirmed the baby news. In a statement given to Wenn, a spokesman for the TV network said, “We respect Jamie Lynn’s decision to take responsibility in this sensitive and personal situation. We know this is a very difficult time for her and her family, and our primary concern right now is for Jamie Lynn’s well being.” Reports suggest the father is student Casey Aldridge, who Spears allegedly dumped this summer. Jamie-Lynn has told OK! magazine she intends to keep the baby. 
Jennifer Lopez is revving up her lawyers to take on former fashion partner Andy Hilfiger, we hear from a source. The two parted ways last year after a disappointing collaboration on her label, Sweetface. Despite huge hype and a presence at New York Fashion Week, the line never lived up to expectations. “It is expected that she will file suit and that he will countersue,” says a source close to one of the parties. “They’re likely to sue each other.” The split took place after years of seemingly cordial relations that even saw Hilfiger attending the Sweetface shows with his designer brother, Tommy. Last year, Radar magazine reported that one reason for the rift was the hands-on approach of J.Lo’s husband, Marc Anthony. His involvement in Lopez’s business dealings reportedly cramped Hilfiger, who was the Sweetface CEO. “Andy is very happily back at the Hilfiger empire,” says the snitch of his decision to return to his brother’s business. Reps for both sides did not comment Tuesday.
