Don’t expect Lance Bass and his lover Reichen Lehmkuhl to be together much longer. Friends of Bass say he’s sick of Lehmkuhl’s controlling ways. “Reichen forced Lance to come out just at the same time he has a book coming out [’Here’s What We’ll Say’] so he could ride the publicity wave,” said our spy. “He is a big gay activist and very controlling. He wants Lance to give up his straight friends and do whatever he tells him to.” Lehmkuhl has taken every opportunity to go on-air. He told “The Insider,” “I’m happy it’s shocking people . . . Representatives for Nick Lachey have hit back at a student who has accused the singer of roughing him up when he tried to take a picture of him on his mobile phone on Friday night. Younes Renak, 18, claims Lachey went crazy when he tried to snap a photo of him inside an elevator at 2am, and began pushing him around. The alleged altercation kicked off at the fashionable Rivergate apartment building in New York City, where Lachey’s girlfriend, TV presenter Vanessa Minnillo lives. Renak’s lawyer Saul Bienenfeld tells the New York Post’s Page Six, “It was a cell phone (camera), wasn’t a paparazzi kind of thing. We’re talking about an 18-year-old kid taking in life in the big city.” Bienenfeld says his client is considering suing the singer. Meanwhile, Lachey’s representatives have slammed the claims, insisting Renak started harassing Lachey at a drugstore and then followed him into the building and the elevator. The singer’s lawyer Mitch Schuster says, “We believe it was a lot more than a young man trying to take a picture.” Lachey’s publicist Ken Sunshine adds, “This harassment with camera phones - it’s just out of control.” Renak says he still has the cell phone and pictures of Lachey, although he refused to share them with the publication.

Katie Couric had fellow passengers aboard a New York-bound jet on the warpath this week when, as their plane was about to taxi to the runway, she got out of her seat and begged the pilot to allow one of her late-arriving producers to board. “It was like, ‘Who the hell does she think she is?’ ” fumed one passenger who observed Couric’s diva-like antics. “If you or I attempted something like this, we’d be cooling our heels at Guantanamo.” The witness told Page Six that attendants on Wednesday’s 6:30 p.m. Delta Shuttle flight out of Washington, D.C., had already closed the door and passengers were buckled in, when the soon-to-be CBS News anchor raced up the aisle with a cellphone to her ear and told an attendant she had to speak to the pilot right away. Couric was then allowed into the cockpit and convinced the pilot to delay the flight and reopen the door for her producer, Nicola Hewitt. “One flight attendant rolled her eyes and told me, ‘This is only the second time I’ve ever seen this happen - the other time was a sick passenger,’ ” the witness said. 
Lindsay Lohan’s hard-partying antics and recent bout of “heat exhaustion” has left one Hollywood big shot steamed, The Smoking Gun has learned. In a blistering July 26 letter to the 20-year-old actress, James G. Robinson, who heads the L.A. firm producing Lohan’s current movie, calls her recent erratic behavior “discourteous, irresponsible and unprofessional.” Robinson, the 70-year-old chief executive of Morgan Creek Productions, writes that Lohan has “acted like a spoiled child and in doing so have alienated many of your co-workers and endangered the quality” of “Georgia Rule,” a movie now being filmed and which stars Lohan, Jane Fonda, and Felicity Huffman. 
Mel Gibson was arrested Friday in Malibu, California, and charged with driving under the influence, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office. Gibson, 50, was pulled over early Friday while driving on the Pacific Coast Highway, said sheriff’s spokesman Steve Whitmore. Officers on patrol reported Gibson was driving at an “excessively fast speed,” he said. 
Will Ferrell is a married dad, but his lip lock with “Talladega Nights” co-star Sacha Baron Cohen “was one of the finest experiences of my life.” Ferrell told us at the comedy’s L.A. premiere that Cohen “has extremely soft, supple lips.” Cohen was less enamored with Ferrell, whom he said has “terrible breath.” What’s more, he deadpanned, “Will got drunk one night and showed up at my hotel room at 3 a.m., urging me, ‘Let’s rehearse our kissing scene.’ He’s quite a strong man, and he overpowered me, but I’m not going to go into details.”

They were married in a Jehovah’s Witness ceremony in Hawaii in 2001. It’s the second split-up for Prince, who was married to backup singer and dancer Mayte Garcia from 1996 through 1998. David Hasselhoff was barred from boarding a flight to Los Angeles because he showed up too drunk at London’s Heathrow airport, according to reports. The former Baywatch star had his travel plans postponed by two hours yesterday after airport officials declared him unfit to fly. Witnesses tell British newspaper The Sun the 54-year-old, who claims to have beaten his battle with booze, was clearly inebriated and his behavior startled them. One source, who saw the actor pick up the boss of the airport’s duty free shop, said, “He seemed merry. He’s a huge fella and the manageress is tiny. He picked her up then put her down.” A British Airways spokesman confirmed, “A male passenger was denied boarding on the BA279 Heathrow to Los Angeles service because he was deemed unfit for travel. He was assessed later and passed fit to fly on BA283.” Hasselhoff’s publicist could not immediately be reached by Wenn for comment.
